Advance Bookings Passed ₹63 Crore Worldwide

The Week reported on 1 November, at 2:21 PM IST, that worldwide advance bookings had reached about ₹63.48 crore gross, based on figures tracked by Sacnilk. About ₹34.01 crore of that came from India: ₹28.65 crore in Hindi, ₹3.46 crore in Kannada and ₹1.66 crore in Telugu.

Overseas bookings stood at about ₹29.47 crore, or roughly .50 million. North America accounted for about .58 million, and the UK for about 1,000. Paid premieres on 4 November brought in over million overseas, the report says.

Opening-day domestic bookings were ₹22.77 crore gross, including ₹4.74 crore from premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby. Among states, Maharashtra has contributed ₹6.99 crore, Delhi ₹5.74 crore and Karnataka ₹5.62 crore.

The report says a worldwide opening day above ₹200 crore is possible if current momentum continues. That figure comes from unnamed trade estimates.

Sacnilk's Projections Before the Opening

A Sacnilk analysis published on 30 October at 3:56 PM IST, by Sunit Jangir, projected a day-one India net of ₹65 crore at the low end, ₹85 crore as the expected figure and ₹105 crore at the high end. It put the six-day Diwali run at ₹275 crore, ₹400 crore and ₹600 crore on the same basis.

Bookings so far were about 3.48 lakh opening-day tickets across 7,043 shows, worth about ₹17.56 crore gross including block seats. Hindi made up about 83 per cent of bookings, and Telugu and Tamil bookings had not yet picked up.

The article notes that Dhanteras, Choti Diwali and Lakshmi Puja fall on the first weekend, with Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj holidays following. It expects a jump on those two holidays.

Trade reports cited in the same article put the opening at ₹65 crore to ₹75 crore net. Paid previews on 4 November, if held, could add ₹10 crore to ₹15 crore net.

Early premiere reactions from Los Angeles praised the visuals and Yash's Ravana but some found the emotional side weak. The runtime is 3 hours 15 minutes.

Pinkvilla's Day-One Estimate and Its Records

Pinkvilla puts day-one collections at about ₹127.5 crore worldwide: roughly ₹76 crore from India and about ₹51.5 crore overseas, or .45 million. Whether the India figure is gross or net has not been stated. The overseas total includes nearly million from North American previews on Wednesday and .5 million across all markets on Thursday.

Pinkvilla calls the figures subjective trade estimates that are not finalised or certified accounts. It says the film's United States opening-day total of .8 million is the second-biggest for a Bollywood film there, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge at .91 million.

The article also reports a new all-time Bollywood opening-day record in the UK, at £440,000, and calls Germany's €165,000 the biggest Bollywood opening day ever. Australia's AUD 505,000 start is ranked fourth-biggest.

The Middle East was an underperformer at 0,000 on Thursday, the article says, and the film had no release in Saudi Arabia or Qatar.

The figures differ widely.

What Is Not Yet Confirmed

The worldwide opening-day figure above ₹200 crore comes from unnamed trade estimates. The Week's report also cites some overseas projections of million to million for the opening weekend. The report also estimates the overseas opening weekend at .85 million to million, based on existing bookings.

Pinkvilla projects over million for the four-day extended opening weekend. It says Sony spent heavily on promotion and release costs.

Sacnilk's figures are India net projections, written before the 5 November release, while Pinkvilla's headline figure is worldwide. Sacnilk says the outcome all boils down to word of mouth after the Diwali holidays. Sacnilk gives Dhurandhar 2's opening as over ₹100 crore net.
