Actor R Madhavan is reportedly set to lead an untitled horror feature directed by Vishal Furia, according to a report on Filmibeat published on 31 October 2026 at 4:33 pm IST. The report says the film will be produced by Rohit Ranjan under his banner, Frostlit Production Limited.

The report presents the project as settled, with Madhavan as its lead. It gives no title, shooting schedule or release date, and it names no other cast members.

What the Filmibeat Report Says

According to the report, Madhavan and Furia are teaming up on a horror feature. The headline places the project after Madhavan's earlier horror work, naming 13B and Shaitaan, and presents it as his return to the genre.

Furia is the only person quoted. He describes Madhavan as his first and only choice for the lead and says the aim is fear that viewers feel in their bones. He also calls Madhavan a true horror star, pointing to 13B.

Furia's remarks are the report's only direct statements about the project. The report does not include a statement from the producer or from Madhavan.

Confirmation and Comment

Madhavan and Ranjan are not quoted in the report.

Until Madhavan, Ranjan or Furia speaks on the record, the film's details rest on that single report and should be read as reported rather than confirmed.

Madhavan's Horror Record: Shaitaan and Maa

Madhavan played Vanraj in Shaitaan, the supernatural psychological horror film directed by Vikas Bahl. Wikipedia gives its theatrical release as 8 March 2024, and lists Jio Studios, Devgn Films and Panorama Studios as production companies. Ajay Devgn plays Kabir Rishi, and Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala and Aangad Raj also appear in the cast.

Pinkvilla's review, updated 6 August 2025, says the family meets Vanraj at a dhaba on the way to their farmhouse. The review calls him a killer and says he does all that it takes for the audience to loathe him.

Wikipedia's entry gives a worldwide box office of ₹211.06 crore, citing Bollywood Hungama's report of 10 April 2024, and describes the film as the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. It gives an estimated budget of ₹60–65 crore, citing reports dated 9 March 2024. It premiered on Netflix on 1 May 2024.

On 29 May 2025, Bollywood Hungama reported that Madhavan made an unannounced appearance at the Mumbai trailer launch of Maa, a horror film starring Kajol. The article says he had been shooting in Chennai and flew in for one day.

On stage, Madhavan joked about the hug Devgn gave him, which drew laughter from the crowd. Bollywood Hungama frames the appearance as a hint of deeper ties between Shaitaan and Maa, both produced by Devgn. The article says it is unclear whether his character returns in Maa.

The report presents the project as settled, with Madhavan as its lead.

Furia's Current Film, Maa

Film Companion reports that Maa has finished shooting. Kajol plays the lead, Furia directs, and Devgn produces under Ajay Devgn Films. The report is dated 19 May 2024.

Furia announced the wrap on social media, calling it his most ambitious project so far. He credited Luv Ranjan with introducing him to Devgn Films and praised Ajay Devgn's script and world-building input. He also thanked writer Saiwyn and Danish Devgn, and said Kajol made the move from romance to horror look easy. He is best known for directing films like Chhorii (2021), starring Nushratt Bharuccha.

Furia said only that more details would follow, and Film Companion gives no release date for Maa. Wikipedia's Shaitaan entry gives Maa's release as 27 June 2025, a date Bollywood Hungama also gave as scheduled.

Bollywood Hungama describes Maa as the story of a mother who channels the goddess Kali to fight a demonic curse on her family. Film Companion names only Kajol in the cast; Bollywood Hungama also names Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma and Ronit Roy.
