Silambarasan TR and Nayanthara are reportedly being considered for a new film, according to Pinkvilla, which reported the story on 30 October 2026 at 9:11 pm IST. The report describes what is likely to be an action entertainer in which Silambarasan plays a police officer. It says the film is expected to be directed by Keerthiswaran, citing several online media reports, including Movies Singapore. The report is credited to Goutham S.

The makers have not announced the casting, and the report carries no response from Nayanthara, Silambarasan or their teams. Pinkvilla attributes the director's name to other online reports rather than to the makers, so the name is also unconfirmed.

DT Next's May Report on the Project

DT Next, in a report updated at 5:37 am on 27 May 2026, said Silambarasan was set to team up with Keerthiswaran after completing Arasan. The report ties the start of the new film to the end of work on Arasan, the Vetrimaaran-directed gangster drama.

The report named Mythri Movie Makers as the backer and described the project as being in pre-production, with shooting expected to start by mid-August. Keerthiswaran is described as the director of Dude.

DT Next cited a Maalaimalar report for the early development. Story discussions were held in Hyderabad for nearly 20 days, and talks had moved to Mahabalipuram, near Chennai.

What the 30 October Pinkvilla Report Adds

Pinkvilla is the only one of the two reports to link Nayanthara to the project. It says the film might be the third collaboration between the two, after Vallavan and Idhu Namma Aalu.

Vallavan, which Silambarasan wrote and directed, is described as a romantic thriller with Nayanthara as co-star. It received mixed reviews, had a decent box office run and later became a cult favourite. Idhu Namma Aalu, a 2016 romantic comedy, reunited the pair.

Pinkvilla says the account remains a report for now, and that the makers have made no official announcement on the casting.

The Filmography, Arasan and Other Projects

The Wikipedia filmography lists Vallavan as a 2006 film, with Silambarasan as Vallavan and as director and screenwriter, and Idhu Namma Aalu as a 2016 film directed by Pandiraj, with Silambarasan as Shiva. It lists no co-stars for either, so it does not show Nayanthara in them.

The filmography therefore does not confirm the pair's earlier work together. The third-film count rests on the Pinkvilla report alone.

DT Next said in May that Arasan was planned for a Diwali release, while Pinkvilla says Arasan is slated for 2027.

DT Next describes Arasan as a gangster drama set in North Chennai, with Vijay Sethupathi, Samuthirakani, Kishore, Priyanka Mohan, Yogi Babu, Andrea Jeremiah and Nelson Dilipkumar in the cast. Kalaipuli S Thanu produces it, and Anirudh Ravichander composed the music.

Pinkvilla also lists other work for both actors. Nayanthara is set to share screen space with Salman Khan in the upcoming film tentatively titled Monster, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, and has reportedly joined the shoot of Dharman, a Rajinikanth film directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and co-produced by Haasan. Pinkvilla says STR51, Silambarasan's film with Ashwath Marimuthu, was initially expected to begin after Arasan, and that Ashwath Marimuthu has since shifted his focus to Dharman amid delays in Vetrimaaran's film.

The makers have not announced the casting, and the report carries no response from Nayanthara, Silambarasan or their teams.

What Remains Unannounced

No official announcement on the casting has been made, according to Pinkvilla. The mid-August shooting expectation from May and the casting account from October are both reported rather than confirmed.

The two reports are about five months apart. Pinkvilla also says its details have not been verified by the people involved. The most recent shooting timing is the mid-August expectation from May.

Neither star has responded in the reports. Until the makers or the actors confirm the project, Nayanthara's name and Keerthiswaran's name both remain unconfirmed in connection with it.
