Pinkvilla reported on 24 October that Kamal Haasan's film with SU Arun Kumar is likely to be titled Sandiyar. The makers have not officially confirmed the title.

Pinkvilla reported on 24 October that Kamal Haasan's next film with director SU Arun Kumar is likely to be titled Sandiyar. The report, published at 10:55 pm IST, is unconfirmed. The makers have not officially confirmed the title or other details.
The project was first made public in September, when Raaj Kamal Films International shared a first glimpse of the actor on 3 September. That announcement gave no title, and DT Next reported that the makers had kept the title, supporting cast, plot and release plans under wraps.
What the 24 October Report Says
The report, which Pinkvilla attributes to Valai Pechu, describes a gritty action entertainer reportedly shot entirely in Madurai, as the actor wants the project to have a rooted, realistic feel. Haasan is said to have a short-haired look for the role.
The film is reported not to use CGI de-aging or dance sequences. SU Arun Kumar, who directed Veera Dheera Sooran, is named as director.
The female co-lead is reported to be a middle-aged actress. The report does not give her name.
A photoshoot is reported to be complete, and shooting is expected to begin in November. Stills and a first-look poster are expected on his 72nd birthday.
The September Announcement and Later Reports
Raaj Kamal Films International posted the first glimpse on 3 September, captioned "Dho Vaaren", and tagged Haasan and Arun Kumar. DT Next and The Hollywood Reporter India both reported the post that day. The Hollywood Reporter India described the post as a team-up.
The still shows Haasan in a black shirt and olive-green trousers, with an intense expression, holding a sickle. The Hollywood Reporter India says the image is a still from his photoshoot.
DT Next describes the project as Haasan's next Tamil film and his first collaboration with Arun Kumar, who is known for Chithha and Veera Dheera Sooran. The Hollywood Reporter India names Pannaiyarum Padminiyum as Arun Kumar's debut.
Deccan Chronicle reported on 4 September that a look test had been conducted the previous day. Glimpses from it have circulated online. The report cites a source who says Haasan is balancing negative and positive roles back to back.
Deccan Chronicle reports that the film is jointly produced by RaajKamal Films International and Turmeric Media. The same report says Haasan is leading the project. DT Next said the title, the supporting cast, the plot and the release plans were under wraps, and more details were expected from Raaj Kamal Films International.
Deccan Chronicle also recalls his portrayal of a ruthless character in Kalki 2898 AD. DT Next notes that Haasan is currently associated with Kalki 2, where he reprises his role as Supreme Yaskin, and says he is juggling several projects.
What Has and Has Not Been Confirmed
The makers have not announced the title Sandiyar, the Madurai shoot, the November start or the first-look timing. These details come from the Pinkvilla report alone.
Pinkvilla also recalls an earlier project, tentatively titled KH237, that Haasan was expected to make with the Anbariv duo. The script was reportedly written by Syam Pushkaran, and Jakes Bejoy was set for music and background score. The Hollywood Reporter India describes the Anbariv duo as stunt choreographers turned directors, and says the project has been delayed. Pinkvilla says there have been no further updates on it.
Until the makers or Haasan speak on the record, Sandiyar remains a reported title.

Haasan's Other Projects
Pinkvilla describes Thug Life as Haasan's most recent lead role, directed by Mani Ratnam with STR as co-star, and says it is streaming on Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter India says the film came out in 2025 and underperformed at the box office.
Pinkvilla also names a tentatively titled action entertainer with Rajinikanth, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The Hollywood Reporter India says that film is expected to begin production in 2027. The Hollywood Reporter India says Haasan is also producing Rajinikanth's Dharman, for which Ashwath Marimuthu was announced as director.
Pinkvilla also lists Indian 3, a Shankar-directed vigilante action sequel, as reportedly expected in summer 2027.
