Trade estimates reported by Pinkvilla on 19 October 2026 put Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 at about ₹224 crore gross in India over its first weekend, after its release on 15 October. Pinkvilla describes the figures as subjective trade estimates, not certified collections.

Bollywood Hungama's India table lists ₹2.60 crore for Monday, 19 October, and the page says its figures may be approximate. The Hindi-language run has been separately affected by a dispute between the producers and large national multiplex chains over the film's streaming window.

Weekend Totals Against Coolie and Other Openers

Pinkvilla gives India gross of ₹67.25 crore on Thursday, ₹42.50 crore on Friday, ₹52.50 crore on Saturday and ₹61.75 crore on Sunday, which adds up to ₹224 crore. Thursday, 15 October, was the opening day. The article gives no India net figure, so the total cannot be compared directly with net totals from other trackers.

By territory, the article puts Tamil Nadu at ₹79.75 crore, Kerala at ₹40 crore, Karnataka at ₹39 crore, the territory it labels APTS at ₹43 crore and the rest of India at ₹22.25 crore.

Pinkvilla places the weekend total practically level with Coolie's ₹224.25 crore and calls it the third-highest of all time. Overseas, Sacnilk's early estimates, published on 16 October, put Coolie at ₹75 crore, Jailer 2 at ₹55 crore and the original Jailer at ₹40 crore, all for opening day, Thursday, 15 October. Sacnilk says the Jailer 2 figure is based on early estimates and may be revised. Sacnilk's report of 17 October gives approximately ₹57 crore for Jailer 2's overseas opening-day gross.

Hindi and India Totals From Two Trackers

Pinkvilla's Hindi-version figures are net. It reports ₹3.15 crore for the opening day, ₹3 crore for the second day, ₹4.25 crore for the third and ₹5.25 crore for the fourth, for a weekend total of ₹15.65 crore. Pinkvilla's day labels conflict within the article, so the days are given here by number.

Pinkvilla's main India report also estimates, with qualification, that a release in the national chains could have brought the Hindi version closer to ₹25 crore net.

Bollywood Hungama's India table lists ₹2.56 crore for 15 October, ₹2.41 crore for 16 October, ₹3.63 crore for 17 October and ₹4.56 crore for 18 October, with ₹13.16 crore as its end-of-opening-weekend total. Its separate weekend table totals ₹10.6 crore, so the page's two weekend totals conflict.

The two trackers' figures cover different scopes, so their totals are not directly comparable, and neither set is certified.

How the Eight-Week Window Dispute Works

The Week reported on 12 October that PVR INOX and Cinepolis were not set to screen the Hindi-dubbed version over a disagreement about the streaming window. Major North Indian chains generally require an eight-week, or 56-day, theatrical window before a Hindi film can stream. The producers reportedly secured an OTT deal that allows streaming four weeks, or 28 days, after release.

The Week reports that meeting the eight-week rule would mean renegotiating that deal or accepting financial losses. It describes the OTT deal as profitable, and reports that the producers did not renegotiate it. Multiplex operators reportedly fear that a shorter window could cut ticket, food and beverage sales.

The report says a larger concern is that an exception could weaken the eight-week rule and prompt other Hindi producers to seek similar terms. The dispute reportedly covers only the Hindi-dubbed version, and the Tamil original and other Southern-language versions were expected to release as normal.

The Week quotes no named spokesperson and says official confirmation was still awaited. On 19 October, Pinkvilla said the Hindi version had not been released in the major national cinema chains, including PVR INOX and Cinepolis, and described the Hindi weekend as more notable given that absence.

The report says a larger concern is that an exception could weaken the eight-week rule and prompt other Hindi producers to seek similar terms.

What Remains Unconfirmed

The sources used for this article report no agreement between the multiplex chains and the producers on the Hindi window. The streaming deal and the dispute are as reported on 12 October, and official confirmation had not been announced at that time.

Bollywood Hungama's India table lists ₹2.60 crore for Monday, 19 October, and marks its figure for Tuesday, 20 October, as live. The page says its figures can be approximate and are compiled from various sources.

All box-office totals in this article are trade estimates, and none has been certified. The Coolie comparison and the third-highest ranking come from a single Pinkvilla report.
