About Ribbon Pakoda Recipe
A traditional South Indian snack recipe is ribbon pakoda. This is a crispy, crunchy snack. Ola pakoda, ribbon murukku, and Aaku pakoda are some other names for ribbon pakoda. Rice flour, besan flour, and roasted gram flour combined with spices and garlic make up this ribbon pakoda. This snack will taste fantastic if you add garlic to it. Mostly during festive seasons, ribbon pakoda or ribbon murukku is made. Along with tea or coffee, it tastes great.
Ingredients
- 2 cup Rice flour
- 1/2cup roasted gram flour
- 1/2cup besan flour
- 7 0r 8 Garlic pods
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
- 1tsp chilli powder
- 1tsp cumin seed
- 1/2tsp hing powder
- 50gm Butter/ghee/oil
- Oil for fry murukku
How to make Ribbon Pakoda/Murukku
- First take 1/2cup roasted gram in a kadai or pan. Fry until raw smell goes. Keep it aside.
- Allow to cool and put it in mixy jar and make it fine powder.
- Take same mixy jar and put garlic pods with small amount of rice flour so that garlic will get grinded easily. Keep it a side.
- Now take a large bowl and sieve all the three flours one by one.
- Now add all spice powders (chili powder, Hing powder, salt and cumin seeds) Mix well.
- Now add hot melted butter or oil and mix with hand.
- Mix until hot oil/butter combines nicely into mixture. Take some amount of mixture and press with fingers. You can find out oil is mixed properly or not.
- Now add water gradually and make a soft dough.
- Keep your finger in the dough and press. Finger should go smoothly inside the dough. Then your dough is perfect.
- Take a murukku maker and fix the ribbon pakoda aachu(plate)
- Now grease the murukku maker with oil and put the dough inside.
- Heat oil. Make sure the stove should be in medium flame.
- Press the murukku maker directly into the hot oil in circular motion.
- Flip it and fry both the side until the sizzling sound stop. Remove and keep it in a plate.

Notes
- For original taste you can use vanaspati also, measurement same. 50gram
- You can skip garlic if you don’t like.
- Allow the ribbon murukku to cool. Store it in airtight container. Keep it in room temperature for 1 week.
- If you don’t want to use chili powder, you can use pepper powder also. Taste will awesome.
