About Aloo Matar Recipe
The north Indian dish aloo matar is also known as potato and pea curry. Aloo matar is a delicious, simple meal. There are many variations of this dish. I’ll show you a simple and easy-to-make version today. Which will be easier to cook. The recipe for aloo matar pairs well with jeera rice, puri, chapathi and batura. Onions, tomatoes, and other basic ingredients that are always available in our kitchens are used to make aloo matar or potato pea curry. If you enjoy coconut flavor, you can also add coconut milk or paste. This ingredient wasn’t included in the recipe. This aloo matar dish will be wonderful even without coconut. I’ll soon publish a curry made with potatoes, peas, and coconut.
My favourite vegetables are potatoes and peas. When these vegetables are used to make curry, the dish is tasty and wonderful. The nutrients in potatoes and green peas are both rich. Children will enjoy this dish a lot. You can also add white peas in place of green peas. White peas must soak overnight before cooking.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 potatoes
- 1 cup peas
- 2 onions
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tsp jeera
- 2 tbsp kulambu podi( all purpose powder)
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- Few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Take a pressure pan and heat coconut oil.
- Add jeera and saute for a while
- Then add chopped onion and cook until raw smell goes
- Add ginger garlic paste. Mix well and cook for few mins.
- Add green chilli
- Add chopped tomato and cook until raw smell goes.
- Add turmeric powder and cook for a while.
- Add salt and all spice powders. Stir and saute until raw smell goes.
- After mixing well add little water and cook until oil separate from masala.
- Now add raw potato and mix well. Iam using pressure cooker for this recipe so no need to boil potato separately.
- Add green peas (matar) and mix well.
- Now pour water and mix well.
- Add curry leaves and close the pressure cooker lid. Pressure cook until 1 whistle. Simmer the flame.
- Open the lid after pressure goes out.
- Aloo matar curry is ready to serve.
