Ghee Rice (Easy One Pot Rice)
Ghee rice is a flavourful and aromatic rice dish that is a popular delicious in many parts of India, especially in the southern region. It is a simple yet delicious recipe that combines steamed basmati rice with caramelized onions, ghee, and whole spices. To prepare ghee rice, you first need to rinse the basmati rice under cold Then, soak the rice in water for about 20 minutes.
Here I have added some vegetables like carrot and green peas. You can add potato, cauliflower or beans but we should add any two veggies only so that we can have original taste. For extra flavour we can add dry fruits also.
Ingredients
- Basmati Rice-1cup
- Ghee – 3tbsp
- Onion – 2
- Tomato – 1
- Green chilli – 2
- Biryani powder – 1tbsp
- Carrot – 1
- Green peas – half cup
- Turmeric powder- 1/4tsp
- Salt to taste
- Water – 2cup
- Coriander leaves few
Instruction
- Soak Rice for about 20 to 30 mins
- Add Ghee in a pressure cooker and add biryani masala powder and let them sizzle
- Add grinded Paste (onion, tomato and greenchilli)
- Saute well and cook for a while
- Add Veggies and mix well
- Add Turmeric powder and salt
- Mix well and cook for 1min
- Now add water and soaked rice.
- Mix well and finally add coriander leaves
- Close the lip and pressure cook for 10mins or until 2whistle
Very easy to cook and also very tasty. The taste of this Ghee rice is very different, here i didn’t add ginger garlic paste its optional only.

Grind it coarsely
Grind onion , tomato and green chilli
Take carrot and green peas in a bowl
Home Made Biryani powder
In a pressure pan add ghee ,biryani powder and onion paste
Add Coriander leaves few
Add Salt to taste
Add carrot and green peas, mix well
Add water and mix well
Add soaked rice and close the lid.
Pressure cook for 10 mins or until 2 whistles
DONE
Serve Hot. Cucumber raitha is a excellent side dish with Papad.
Potato curry is also nice combination. Very Easy and a quick recipe for lunch box also.
